IFFCO has set the following key focus areas to guide us in achieving the goals. We are confident that focusing our efforts into these areas will lead to progress towards the goals and also allow us to establish the right partnership to create scalable impacts. Moving forward, IFFCO will report progress against the following key focus areas and milestones under the Sustainability Dashboard:
SUSTAINABILITY ROADMAP
SUSTAINABILITY ROADMAP
IFFCO SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL ROADMAP
IFFCO does not own or operate any upstream assets such as oil palm plantations and mills, thus 100% of the palm oil materials come from third party supplying mills, refineries or aggregators. A slightly more than 50% of our sourced palm oil that we further process in one of our refineries in Middle East, North Africa and South Asia come from tier 1 external refineries or aggregators. Nearly 50% of the remaining sourced palm oil volumes come from our Indonesia’s based refinery that sources and processes palm oil directly from mills. IFFCO’s traceability action plans include:
- • Establishing IFFCO’s global palm footprint to understand the palm oil supply origin
- • Working with suppliers on traceability to mill and map the supply base to achieve traceability to plantations.
- • Analyzing the risks and best practices in our supply base.
IFFCO’s milestone is to maintain full traceability of our palm-based products to supplying mills that we have achieved since 2019, and to work with our suppliers to achieve full traceability to plantation for palm oil that we directly source from palm oil mills by end-2023 and for indirectly source by end-2027.
IFFCO Group traceability to mill (TTM) is 100% and traceability to plantation (TTP) is 57%. The traceability to mill is verified annually by Control Union. In August 2022, in addition to 100% traceability to mill, IFFCO’s Indonesia-based refinery also achieved 95.48% traceability to plantation for its crude palm oil (CPO) volume processed in the period of August 2021 -July 2022. The traceability is verified by Control Union.
IFFCO milestone’s is to have tools for verification of compliance of which the results will inform establishment of appropriate joint action plans to address the supplier gaps towards excellence.
This entails action plan to map gaps of direct suppliers and priorities according to the volumes they supply, execute the risks-based approach in the main sourcing areas, and identify potential improvement program and support needed for suppliers to comply with IFFCO’s policy and contribute in realizing the full potential of palm oil to support greener planet, better people and greater prosperity.
IFFCO has integrated No Deforestation, No Peat and No Expolitation (NDPE) commitment into its Group Policy on Sustainable Palm Oil and IFFCO measures the progress towards its compliance using the NDPE Implementation Reporting Framework (NDPE IRF). IFFCO’s percentage of deforestation-free and peat compliant palm oil volumes as reported using the NDPE IRF is externally verified by Control Union. The IRF Profile is reported for each of the IFFCO Group of companies.
IFFCO’s milestone is to create one partnership that leads to enhancing production, protection of environment and smallholder inclusion. IFFCO recognizes the importance of broader stakeholder action to maximize the progress and scale of IFFCO 2021 goals. By working together through public-private partnership, IFFCO believes this will help increase volume of RSPO materials processed in its facilities and also deliver tangible impact on environmental safeguards, social development and economic prosperity.
